Baarahmaha - In paintings

Sangraand marks the beginning of each of the 12 months of the Sikh calendar (Nanakshahi calendar). Each month has been spoken of and described in the Sikh holy scripture - Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji - by the Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji.

It is a practice in Sikhism, that the Sangraand day is marked by reading of the specific portion of the verse ("Baarahmaha"), which is related to the message of the Almighty, along with the Hukamnaama.

Below are artistic impressions of each of the 12 months of the Sikh calendar, painted by Sardar Davinder Singh.

Sardar Mehar Singh's art work depicting Guru Nanak Dev ji's visit to Kabul on the way back from Mecca. Locals came to see him and the Guru outlined the thought of monotheism. In his message, the Guru told them that the Almighty God is ONE, we all are his creations. We may remember Him by any name but He is one, and He is for all.

This is a very fine art work of Sardar Mehar Singh, artist. Sardar Mehar Singh has made quite a remarkable contribution to Sikh art. He has been painting for many years now and currently resides in Chandigarh, India.
